Illustration Friday-captain

I, like many others immediately thought of a pirate when I saw "captain" as the theme, but I thought I would tie it in with my childhood love of make-believe. After I got done with the sketch I also wondered if perhaps this comes as the explaination for the bear in last week's post- her big brother takes prisoners! red lead and graphite on moleskine- colored in photoshop. (please click to enlarge- it loses a lot of detail small)

Illustration Friday- Emergency

When I saw the topic this week, I thought about how an emergency can take on a variety of meanings depending on whose eyes we're viewing the situation through. While there are enough truly catastrophic emergencies going on in the world, I guess a part of me longed for the days when "cute" emergencies occured that mommy was capable of handling with a needle and thread. It also reminds me that God has the power to fix seemingly impossible situations as easily as our torn teddy bears- see, it really is all in our perspective.

Illustration Friday- Missing

copyright 2007 Heather Hoh

I've decided to do Illustration Friday as a way first and foremost to keep myself loose at coming up with a concept quickly, maybe finished work will come out of this later on.
Okay, when I thought about missing, my thoughts wondered to those times where I've been sketching for hours and I know I'm close, but there's just that little something that's still missing, that will make it sparkle. This also gave me a good excuse to play around with my watercolor sketch box :)
